Cotswolds Cottage

Cotswolds Cottage | Ampney Crucis, Gloucestershire

Restoring an 18th-century stone cottage requires a delicate balance between heritage and habitability. When we were first appointed, this historic structure was in a state of ruin. Our mission was to breathe new life into its weathered walls while honouring the soul of its Cotswolds origins.

The project began with an extensive internal demolition and a complete reconfiguration of the front and rear landscaping to better anchor the home in its rural setting. Internally, we meticulously restored the original oak beams and exposed the honey-coloured stone walls, ensuring the cottage’s historic character remained the protagonist. By integrating modern lifestyle requirements into this restored shell, we transformed a derelict ruin into a warm, functional, and timeless country retreat.
