Housed within a Grade II listed former school, this project began as a feasibility study for an international client looking to acquire a truly unique residence. The apartment’s defining feature was an extraordinary eight-meter ceiling height, yet the space felt fragmented by an existing mezzanine that obstructed the room’s monumental volume.

Our team reimagined the layout by removing the central mezzanine to fully reveal the soaring proportions of the open-plan living, dining, and kitchen areas. To restore connectivity, we introduced a sculptural, compact staircase leading to an upper-level balcony, creating a seamless and sophisticated flow. To ground the immense scale of the room, we integrated biophilic design elements, including a centrepiece indoor tree, bringing a sense of nature and tranquillity into this historic urban sanctuary.
